After a few months of careful planning, some rehearsals and a few performances, I am proud to present ... (drum roll) ... SoundStruck Percussion. Earlier this year, a few of my percussionist friends from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and I had an idea to form a percussion ensemble. Thanks to our university, our families and some friendly contacts, we got a few of our first gigs, from which we got some great recordings and some great videos.
Being in this group also gave me a chance
During my time as a percussionist, it has come to my attention many times, and explained to me, that practically anything can be a percussion instrument. Bands like STOMP! have showed everyone that a newspaper can be an instrument or that a lighter can entertain crowds all over the world.
So, I chose to grab a couple of friends and put together a piece for the audience at Music at Mac, called Desk-Cussion. It
So, Music at Mac was an especially amazing event at the end of last year and definitely one of the best concerts to leave school with. Mac-Cussion, which you would have seen in the earlier videos, had somewhat of a feature that night and put on a really great show.

As you have probably been reading over the past few weeks, Mac-Cussion has been in a continuing battle for their place in the finals of Australia's Got Talent.
Sadly, we haven't made it through to the next round but we we're really glad that we got this far, especially since the show has helped us get some corporate gigs from Education Queensland and one especially amazing one coming up this week: Creative Generation State Schools Onstage.

Last Friday, Mac-Cussion flew to Melbourne for the next round of Australia's Got Talent. We were so excited!
Our school principal decided to surprise us and when we were about to go on stage, we saw that our parents were in the audience! She had secretly flown one parent from each family to see us play and support us. My mum even brought little packets of lollies for all of us with little cards that said "Mac-Cussion Rulz".

This is a moment I've been waiting for a long time. Macgregor Percussion Ensemble's performance on the popular TV show Australia's Got Talent.
